Service Dept Policies
Our labor and service rates are based on $95/HR bench rate cost. We do not base rates on the billable hour. For example, if we work on your item for one hour, you pay $95.00 for that "bench time". If our rates were based on the" billable hour" we'd work on your item for 48 minutes and you'd be paying us $19 (for 12 minutes of that hour) to cover other related costs of servicing your item. So instead, we charge a flat Service fee on each item left for repair...
Service Intake Fee
ALL ticketed repairs put on our work schedule are billed a flat $8.00 service fee for related admin/recycling/supply/disposal/end user costs. Flat tire repairs and walk-ins are excluded. Billing by bench rate plus a service fee helps keep consumer prices down, consumer value up and productivity up in our setting.
All repairs are scheduled at the time of drop off. We do not do any repairs while you wait. Turnaround time depends on a variety of factors. When you drop your bike off for service, you will be given an approximate completion date and you will receive a text message when your bike is ready for pickup.
We offer emergency overnight, or end-of-week repair service when we have capacity. $40 overnight, $25 end-of-week.
We offer a walk-in service for simpler jobs like flat tire repairs, minor adjustments, etc., when we have the capacity. These repairs are finished by the end of the day and NOT subject to our minimum charge or intake fee.
You may pickup your bike once you have received your text or email confirmation. To inquire on your repair job, our preferred contact method is email firstname.lastname@example.org or text 475-215-0152.
Cost / Estimate Policy
The nature of repair work itself prevents the guaranty of any estimate of cost or completion time. In order to keep administrative costs to a minimum, we adhere to a policy of completing repairs within $30.00 of original formal written estimate. If an item left with us for repairs requires more than $30 above the formal written estimate, we will notify you and ask for approval.
Please note: Verbal, conversational, discussed, etc. pricing is NOT a firm quote... at best, this is considered only a rough estimate. NO ONE at Smart Cycles will ever guaranty a repair cost verbaly.
Inspect and Test Ride at Pickup
Once you load your repaired bike and leave with it, you have acknowledged you are satisfied with the work done. PLEASE inspect your bike & test ride before you leave. It avoids frustration and saves time.
Our minimum labor charge is $45.00. Flats and simple walk-in jobs may be excluded.
We do not save any old parts removed during repair work, regardless of condition. If you want parts saved, make sure to note on your repair ticket that you want old parts saved.
We offer rush service on repairs when we have capacity. You can choose overnight, or end of week (Friday) service. Overnight $40. End of Week $25. Inquire about RUSH service when you drop your bike off.
ALL REPAIR PARTS SALES ARE FINAL SALES. NO EXCHANGES OR RETURNS. LABOR COSTS CANNOT BE REFUNDED, EXCHANGED, CREDITED, etc.
MERCILESS STORAGE FEES
We charge storage fees. NON-Negotiable. All items that remain here for 7 days after completion are charged a daily storage fee of $3.00. If your item is put into off site storage, you accumulate the $3 per day fee, plus $50 flat off site fee, plus 15% of the original invoice. All storage fees are easily avoided by picking up your item when it is ready. PLEASE CONTACT US ASAP IF PICKING UP YOUR REPAIR in a timely manner BECOMES A PROBLEM FOR YOU.
